Armenian Deputy Prime Minister’s Office: The church of Voskepar will remain in the territory of Armenia
The Office of Mher Grigoryan, the Armenian deputy prime minister and the chairman of the Commission on Border Delimitation with Azerbaijan, has denied the rumors that the Holy Mother of God Church dating back to the 6th-7th century, located in the village of Voskepar, Tavush Province, will be ceded to Azerbaijan.
The deputy prime minister’s office told Armenpress that after the implementation of the agreements between Armenia and Azerbaijan regarding the border delimitation, the church of Voskepar will remain in the territory of Armenia.
Residents of a number of settlements of Tavush Province, protesting against the agreement on border delimitation between Armenia and Azerbaijan, continued their protest near the church of Voskepar on April 22, where, according to them, demining works were being carried out in order to cede the territory to Azerbaijan. In this regard, rumors are going around that the church of Voskepar will come under Azerbaijani control after the delimitation process is completed.
