Fethullah Gülen, who was accused in Turkey of plotting a coup attempt in 2016, has died, the newspaper Hürriyet reports.<\/p>\n
“Fethullah Gülen, the leader of FETO, has died. Gülen lived in the American state of Pennsylvania,” the newspaper said.<\/p>\n
Turkish authorities accuse Gülen’s organization, which they call FETO (Fethullah Terrorist Organization), of involvement in the July 2016 coup attempt. After the uprising in Turkey, more than 80,000 people were arrested, and around 150,000 civil servants, including military personnel, were dismissed.
