The ruling Georgian Dream party will not be able to get a constitutional majority in the new parliament, according to the preliminary results of the elections provided by the country’s Central Electoral Commission, NewsGeorgia writes.<\/p>\n
The point is that still 72% of the ballots have been counted. According to this data, the Georgian Dream polled 53% of the vote and will gain 88 seats in Parliament.<\/p>\n
At least 113 seats are needed for a constitutional majority to be formed. Thus, Georgian Dream cannot make amendments to the Constitution and declare the opposition unconstitutional.
