Armenpress<\/a> reports, the initiators of the letter were
\nFormer Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi and Member of
\nthe U.S. House of Representatives Anna Eshoo.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/p>\n
The letter was signed by members of the two congressional
\nparties. The signatories condemned the “unprovoked military offensive” on
\nNagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh) and the “cruel nine-month blockade”, which have left
\nthe region’s Armenian population with “no option but to flee”.<\/p>\n

The members of the Congress stated that despite the fact
\nthat several leading scholars have sounded the alarm of genocide against the
\npopulation of Nagorno-Karabakh, a humanitarian disaster is now occuring, which
\ncan in fact be prevented.<\/p>\n
<\/p><\/p>\n
They propose enforcing Section 907 of the FREEDOM Support
\nAct, a provision of current law that prohibits U.S. military aid to Azerbaijan.
\nThey also call on the Biden administration to impose targeted sanctions on
\nAzerbaijani officials under the Global Magnitsky Act.<\/p>\n
<\/p><\/p>\n
In addition, the authors of the letter propose providing
\nrobust humanitarian assistance to support Artsakh’s displaced population and
\nrallying the international community to do the same.<\/p>\n
