India marks another milestone in its defense export as it shipped the first Akash weapon system battery to Armenia, The New Indian Express<\/a> reports.<\/p>\n

As noted, in 2022, Armenia inked a deal with India to procure 15 Akash missile systems worth around $700 million, becoming the first foreign country to buy this missile system.<\/p>\n

The Akash system can hit targets like fighter jets, missiles (cruise, air-to-surface), drones and other aerial assets to a range of 25km.<\/p>\n

As mentioned, Russia has been the major supplier of arms and ammunition to Armenia over the past decade, accounting for 94 percent of Yerevan’s arms imports from 2011 to 2020.<\/p>\n
