In an X (Twitter) post, the Lemkin Institute for Genocide
\nPrevention called the U.S. belief that the regime of the Azerbaijani President
\ncan engage in good-faith talks delusional and accused world leaders of
\ncomplicity in genocide.

“Demonstrating that it has learned nothing from the genocide
\ncurrently being committed by Azerbaijan against the Armenians of
\nArtsakh\/Nagorno-Karabakh, the United States continues to enable the perpetrator
\nwith its reckless “bothsidesism” and its delusional belief that the
\ngenocidal regime of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev can engage in good-faith
\ntalks or negotiations,” reads the post.

The Lemkin Institute referred to a recent statement made by
\nthe spokesperson for the U.S. Department of State, Matthew Miller. The latter
\nhad said that “there are two sides here that simply have differences” and that
\nthey should agree to talk to each other and reach a settlement. The institute
\nnoted that “Genocide is not a matter of ‘simply [having] differences.’”

“ Furthermore, suggesting that the US has played no role in
\nenabling Aliyev’s impunity to commit genocide is mendacious at best. The Lemkin
\nInstitute warns world leaders that they are behaving in ways that leave them
\nopen not only to charges of complicity in genocide but also to charges of
\naiding and abetting the crime,” reads the post.
