For the U.S. it is important that the ceasefire be
\nmaintained, that the humanitarian needs be addressed, and that an independent
\ninternational mission be established as soon as possible. Spokesperson for the
\nU.S. Department of State Matthew Miller said this.<\/p>\n
“That is our priority for dealing with the immediate
\nsituation and one that we are working to get off the ground. So we are quite
\nserious about the international mission. We think the international mission is
\nimportant because it relates to all of the other questions about humanitarian
\nassistance, about humanitarian needs in the region. We are so serious about the
\ninternational mission that the Secretary raised it in his call with President
\nAliyev, pressed him to support an international mission,” Miller said.

He noted that such issues as under what auspices that
\nmission would be launched, who would participate, what its scope would be, and
\nwhat it would look like are under discussion now.

Miller did not comment on Artsakh President Samvel
\nShahramanyan’s decree, in which the Republic of Artsakh will cease to exist.
