The West’s prime goal is to break off the cooperation
\nbetween Russia and the CIS countries. As TASS reports, Russian Foreign Minister
\nSergey Lavrov said this during the question and answer session at the
\nFederation Council. <\/p>\n
<\/p><\/p>\n
“The West’s overriding concern is the post-Soviet territory.
\nTheir priority is to sever the relations between the former Soviet republics,
\nto destroy the social, economic, legal and common security system,” he said.<\/p>\n
<\/p><\/p>\n
As Lavrov noted, being under the firm guidance of Washington
\nand operating in line with the U.S. Agency for International Development,
\nWestern organizations, NGOs, and all kinds of democracy foundations try to run
\ntheir grant projects in this field.<\/p>\n
<\/p><\/p>\n
“We openly talk about this with our allies. The vast
\nmajority perfectly understand the intentions of the West. We understand that
\nthey do not want to come into conflict with Western countries. We would not
\nwant to be in conflict with them either, if they didn’t start a war against
\nus,” Lavrov said and added that Russia can see how important the issue of
\nsevering the long-standing relations between the post-Soviet countries is to the
\nWest.
