Honda and Nissan have agreed to explore a merger and set up a joint holding company, a source told Reuters<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Honda, Japan’s second-biggest automaker after Toyota, has a market capitalization of more than $40 billion, while third-ranked Nissan is valued at about $10 billion.<\/p>\n

The automakers said they will hold a joint press conference on Monday, where the head of Nissan’s partner Mitsubishi Motors will join their chief executives.<\/p>\n

Honda and Nissan aim to wrap up talks around June 2025 and then set up a holding company by August 2026.
\nHonda will appoint the majority of the holding company’s board, the source added.<\/p>\n
