The development of the Middle Corridor is an extremely important issue, Turkish Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz said at a joint press conference with Turkmenistan’s Deputy Prime Minister Nokerguli Ataguliev.<\/p>\n
He noted that enhancing the efficiency of the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway and the opening of the “Zangezur Corridor” will make the Middle Corridor even more attractive. He also noted that work is ongoing to supply Turkmen gas to European and global markets through Turkey.<\/p>\n
The Middle Corridor is a multimodal route initiated in 2013 by Azerbaijan, Georgia, Kazakhstan, and Turkey to improve connectivity and East-West trade through multilateral cooperation. Azerbaijan and Turkey aim to open the so-called “Zangezur Corridor,” which is supposed to pass through Armenia’s Syunik province.
