Jared Genser, the lawyer for Ruben Vardanyan’s family, has urged the Armenian authorities to take a more active role in the effort to secure the release of prisoners from Baku’s jails, outlining what Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan can do, Sputnik Armenia reports.<\/p>\n

Genser suggested:<\/p>\n

prioritizing the release of prisoners, convening a press conference, and writing articles for leading publications;<\/li>\n
meeting with the families of the prisoners, appealing to the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and the OSCE to send observers to the “courts”;<\/li>\n
calling on allied countries with embassies in Baku to send their representatives to these “courts” and even requesting that Baku allow Armenian observers to participate;<\/li>\n
reaching out to the U.S. president and the secretary of state, as well as the leaders of France and the EU;<\/li>\n
continuing proceedings in the International Court of Justice (ICJ) and the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR); calling on the ICC prosecutor to investigate the expulsion of 120,000 Armenians from Artsakh to Armenia;<\/li>\n
