The countries having an ally in Azerbaijan demand — at least
\npublicly — that the Lachin corridor be opened for humanitarian purposes.
\nPolitical scientist Stepan Danielyan said this to ABC Media<\/strong>.

According to him, there is the order issued by the
\nInternational Court of Justice and the demand of the U.S. Senate, under which
\nAzerbaijan was obliged to open the road, thus saving its face. 

<\/p><\/p>\n

“In other words, Azerbaijan should have shown that its
\ncondition had been met — although still outwardly — and the Aghdam road had
\nbeen opened. On the other hand, the leader of Azerbaijan needs to show his
\npeople that they have not yielded, that their demands have been satisfied, and
\nthat the Lachin corridor will be open only for trucks,” the expert said.

According to Danielyan, the events unfolding now have
\nresulted from the phone call between Pashinyan and Erdoğan, as well as the
\nSept. 4 meeting between the Russian and Turkish presidents, during which these
\nissues were undoubtedly addressed as well.

“There have been a number of other international meetings as
\nwell;  agreements have been reached during these meetings. I suppose that
\nthe Russian and Turkish presidents came to agreements on various issues, namely
\nissues on Africa, the Middle East, Ukraine and the South Caucasus. Of course,
\none of the parties had to make certain concessions at some point. Why did
\nPashinyan and Erdoğan talk to each other? Erdoğan probably had to get some
\nconfirmation from Pashinyan. Besides, in view of the serious deterioration of
\nrelations between Russia and Armenia — without precedent in history — now it is
\nErdoğan who lays down conditions for Pashinyan, and not Putin,” the expert
\nsaid.

As he stated, in fact, Erdoğan is becoming a mediator
\nbetween Armenia and Russia.
