Former Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili has been sentenced to an additional 4.5 years in prison for illegally crossing the border.<\/p>\n
The judge added this sentence to Saakashvili’s previous eight-year prison term, which he received last week for the large-scale embezzlement of budgetary funds. Thus, Saakashvili will serve a total of 12 years and 6 months in prison. His sentence is calculated from the date of his arrest on Oct. 1, 2021.<\/p>\n
