The only candidate standing for the post of the Artsakh
\npresident was Artsakh State Minister Samvel Shahramanyan. His appointment to
\nthat post was the last decision that Arayik Harutyunyan made before his
\nresignation.

Before taking up the state minister’s post, Samvel
\nShahramanyan was the secretary of the Security Council of Artsakh.
<\/p><\/p>\n
Shahramanyan is not a newcomer to the state administration
\nsystem. In 1999-2008, he served in the NKR National Security Service,
\naffiliated with the Government. Later, he worked in the State Revenue Committee
\nof Artsakh. Shahramanyan was the chief compulsory enforcement officer, and
\nworked in the police forces.

In 2018-2020, he was the director of the NSS of Artsakh. On
\nMay 29, 2020, Shahramanyan was appointed minister of Military Patriotism,
\nYouth, Sports and Tourism of the Republic of Artsakh. He holds the rank of
\nmajor general.
<\/p><\/p>\n
He bears the sambo ‘Master of Sport’ title.
<\/p><\/p>\n\n
Shahramanyan is 45 years old. He is married, has three
\nchildren.
