Tomorrow, Sept. 9, under the Constitution of the Republic of
\nArtsakh, the National Assembly will elect the country’s president. In view of
\nthe current difficult situation, we are making this move to be able to rapidly
\nrespond to the serious challenges facing us, to ensure social order and to
\neffectively meet external challenges. Acting President of Artsakh Davit
\nIshkhanyan said this.<\/p>\n

According to Ishkhanyan, under the Constitution, the right
\nand duty to elect the head of the country rests with the Parliament, elected by
\nthe people of Artsakh. <\/p>\n
<\/p><\/p>\n
“In view of the recent negative elements in public
\nsentiments, I call on everybody not to respond to the acts of provocation,
\naimed at causing a rift among people, not to act in narrow sectional interests
\nand to put aside personal preferences for the sake of common interests. No one
\nhas the right to lead our people and its separate segments into adventurism in
\nthese crucial times for us. We have every opportunity to thwart Azerbaijan’s
\nplans of dissolving the state agencies of the Republic of Artsakh, and we
\nshould in no way help Azerbaijan in its unlawful plans.<\/p>\n
<\/p><\/p>\n
We are committed to protecting and strengthening the
\nfoundations of the statehood achieved due to our three-decade work. This is
\nwhat our people want, and we are obliged to move forward having this idea in
\nour minds,” reads the statement.<\/p>\n
