The failure to adequately address the humanitarian situation
\nin Nagorno-Karabakh could have a practical impact on Baku’s relations with the
\nEU. High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy
\nJosep Borrell said this.<\/p>\n
“The EU will continue to impress on Baku the need to
\nurgently address the deteriorating humanitarian situation in Nagorno-Karabakh,”
\nhe wrote.<\/p>\n
He noted that the EU remains heavily engaged at the highest
\nlevel in helping Armenia and Azerbaijan work towards mutually acceptable
\nnormalisation of relations. <\/p>\n
The statement reads that the suspension of the Memorandum of
\nUnderstanding on Energy signed on 18 July 2022 with Azerbaijan, part of the
\nEU’s efforts to diversify its energy sources, is currently not being
\nconsidered.<\/p>\n\n
“The EU has been closely following developments in and
\naround the Lachin corridor and their humanitarian implications since the
\nbeginning of December 2022. The EU has repeatedly called for the full opening
\nof the corridor,” reads the statement.
