I visited the Armenian-Azerbaijani border this weekend at
\nthe spot where the Lachin corridor is blocked. Dutch journalist Thomas van
\nLinge made an X (Twitter) post on this.<\/p>\n
“At this checkpoint Azerbaijani forces block all traffic
\nbetween Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh, leaving 120K Armenians under siege in
\nKarabakh, for over 8 months. A couple dozen trucks, packed with food, have been
\nstuck on the border for over a month.<\/p>\n
The general area around the town of Goris is the site of
\nsporadic attacks by Azerbaijani forces, including the heaviest round of
\nfighting in September of last year. Damaged vehicles from last year’s attack
\ncould be found by the side of the road abandoned by the Armenian military<\/p>\n\n
The village of Shurnukh further south is in a very difficult
\nposition. Following the 2020 war part of the village was occupied by
\nAzerbaijan. This led to a huge exodus with only 30 or so people remaining. Yet
\nchildren continue to be found here, houses are built for the displaced,” the
\njournalist wrote.
