The Iranian and Turkish foreign ministers have agreed to
\nincrease the trading turnover between the two counties to $30 billion.
\nIranologist Harut Artin Arakelyan said this to ABC Media with regard to the
\nmeeting held in Tehran yesterday. <\/p>\n
“This means that the two countries are trying to take
\nadvantage of the current situation, namely of the BRICS membership and the
\nreduced tension in the relations between Saudi Arabia and Iran. This is, in
\nfact, in Turkey’s interests. In this regard, it tries to gain economic and
\npolitical benefits in the region. On top of this, the meeting between Erdoğan
\nand Putin in Sochi means that Turkey is trying to improve and develop its
\nrelations with the BRICS member states,” the expert noted.<\/p>\n
According to Arakelyan, in this region, almost every state
\nis a member of the BRICS; however, we are not. This means that our neighbors
\nwill soon leave us out economically. <\/p>\n\n
“We are trying to stay away from all of that; as a result we
\nwill be left out. With regards to the unblocking of roads, the routes between
\nRussia, Iran and Turkey may be in the BRICS’s interests. Armenia can join these
\nprojects as well,” Arakelyan concluded.
