“Opening of the Akna (Aghdam) road is an existential threat
\nfor Artsakh Armenians and not an alternative to the Berdzor (Lachin) corridor,”
\nTatoyan noted.

“A. The corridor guarantees the preservation of ethnic
\nArmenian identity.<\/p>\n
B. An Akna road would circumvent the legal
\nprohibitions against Azerbaijan as established in the corridor.<\/p>\n
C. Azerbaijan’s circumvention of its international
\nsecurity obligations as to the corridor will derail any negotiated
\nresolution. <\/p>\n

The Akna Road Will Be Used by Azerbaijan in Furtherance of
\nIts Anti-Armenian Policies<\/p>\n
A. Azerbaijan will use the Akna road to make the
\nCorridor obsolete.<\/p>\n
B. Azerbaijan will use the Akna road to effectuate the
\ncomplete dependence of the Artsakh Armenians on Azerbaijan.<\/p>\n
C. The Akna road will become a tool for Azerbaijan’s
\noppression of the Artsakh Armenians.<\/p>\n
D. Azerbaijan will use the Akna road to execute
\nmilitary operations inside Artsakh Proper.<\/p>\n
E. Azerbaijan will use the Akna road to conduct
\nunfettered abductions of Artsakh Armenians.

A. The Akna road would have no third party checks and
\nbalances on Azerbaijani authority or conduct<\/p>\n
B. There will be no internal controls on arbitrariness
\neither.<\/p>\n
C. The opening of the Akna road will legitimize
\nAzerbaijan’s impunity and remove transparency as the only remaining check
\nagainst arbitrariness. <\/p>\n
