A new position to coordinate cooperation with Armenia has been created within France’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, French Ambassador to Armenia Olivier Decottignies said during the 5th Armenia-France Decentralized Cooperation Conference held in Goris.<\/p>\n
Decottignies noted that this position is unique and has no equivalent in other countries. According to him, the connection between Armenia and France is multilayered. “What we build together is not just technical cooperation, nor mere friendship, but real leverage — to influence the situation, support Armenia, and work toward peace,” the ambassador noted.<\/p>\n
Decottignies also highlighted that Goris, located in the heart of Armenia’s geopolitical landscape, holds strategic significance. The ambassador recalled that this city was the first to host internally displaced persons from Nagorno-Karabakh. “Goris is building peace in the region. It has always been a crossroads, and its activities have been aimed at peacebuilding.
