Annalena Baerbock, Germany’s former Foreign Minister, has been elected as the new president of the U.N. General Assembly.<\/p>\n
“As president of the General Assembly, I will engage in a dialogue based on trust with all member states. My door will always be open to everyone,” Baerbock said after the voting.<\/p>\n
Germany’s former foreign minister received 167 votes, which was enough to secure victory. She expressed her gratitude to those who voted for her.<\/p>\n
Baerbock’s inauguration is scheduled for Sept. 9.<\/p>\n
