Bishkek Pervomaisky District Court has sentenced former Kyrgyz President Almazbek Atambayev in absentia to 11.5 years in prison, Interfax<\/a> reports.<\/p>\n

Atambayev was found guilty of illegally acquiring land plots in Koy-Tash village of Chüy Region, as well as being involved in corruption during the modernization of the Bishkek Thermal Power Plant (TPP) and organizing mass disturbances in Koy-Tash on Aug. 7-8.<\/p>\n
