Georgia’s Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze expressed confidence that the country will be ready to join the EU by 2030.<\/p>\n
“Our goal is reflected in Georgia’s constitution. Our aim is to become a member of the European Union by 2030, which is quite possible if a fair approach is ensured. By 2030, Georgia will be more prepared than others to join the EU. If there is a fair approach, it will definitely happen. We hope that attitudes within the EU will improve,” Kobakhidze said during a press conference.<\/p>\n
He added that at this stage, the Georgian side is only listening to coarse and unfounded statements from Western partners regarding the supposedly “anti-European” actions of the ruling Georgian Dream party.<\/p>\n
On Nov. 28, 2024, Kobakhidze announced that a decision had been made to suspend discussions on the start of negotiations for Georgia’s accession to the EU until 2028.
