Our position is that the Aghdam road cannot replace the
\nBerdzor corridor. Adviser to the President of Artsakh Davit Babayan said this
\nto ABC Media. Babayan said this with regard to the news in the press, claiming that
\nat the Security Council meeting, Arayik Harutyunyan announced the decision to
\nuse the Aghdam road as a trade route.

“I did not participate in the press discussion, but my
\nposition in this regard is clear. The Aghdam road cannot replace or be an
\nalternative to the Berdzor corridor,” Babayan said.<\/p>\n
<\/p><\/p>\n
According to him, if the Aghdam road becomes an alternative
\nto the Berdzor corridor, the latter will cease to exist. <\/p>\n
<\/p><\/p>\n
“Thus, we will be faced with a much worse situation, as
\nwe will be cut off from the rest of the world and Armenia. The Berdzor corridor
\ndoes not fulfill only logistical needs. It has a political and legal status
\nunder the provisions of the Statement of November 9, 2020. Russia is to ensure
\nfree movement of people and cargo through the corridor. I cannot understand
\nwhat the Aghdam road has to do with the Berdzor corridor,” Babayan said.<\/p>\n

According to him, the Berdzor corridor cannot be replaced
\nwith the Aghdam road. This move will have disastrous consequences for
\nArtsakh. <\/p>\n

“Technically, the Aghdam road can be used, but it
\ncannot be an alternative to the Berdzor corridor,” Babayan noted.<\/p>\n
