The Houthis have claimed<\/a> responsibility for attacking the Greek cargo ship Eternity C, which was sunk in the Red Sea.<\/p>\n

According to a statement by the group’s spokesperson Yahya Saree, the attack was motivated by the reactivation of trade agreements between the shipowner and the Israeli port of Eilat.<\/p>\n

“Yemeni naval forces struck the Eternity C, which was headed toward the occupied Palestinian port of Umm al-Rashrāsh (the Arabic name for Eilat). The attack was carried out with the use of a remotely controlled vessel, as well as six cruise and ballistic missiles,” Saree said.<\/p>\n

There have been no reports of casualties. The U.S. Embassy in Yemen stated<\/a> that the Houthis have kidnapped the ship’s crew.<\/p>\n
