The U.S. State Department has informed the leadership of UNESCO of its decision to withdraw from the international organization, the press service of the foreign ministry reports<\/a>.<\/p>\n

“Today, the United States informed Director-General Audrey Azoulay of the United States’ decision to withdraw from UNESCO. Continued involvement in UNESCO is not in the national interest of the United States,” the State Department writes.<\/p>\n

As noted, the international organization is driven by a “globalist, ideological agenda” that contradicts the Trump administration’s “America First” policy.<\/p>\n

“UNESCO’s decision to admit the ‘State of Palestine’ as a Member State is highly problematic, contrary to U.S. policy, and contributed to the proliferation of anti-Israel rhetoric within the organization,” reads the statement.<\/p>\n
