Discussions are already underway in Baku on who should become Azerbaijan’s ambassador to Armenia after the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, Sputnik Armenia reports.<\/p>\n
Elmar Mammadyarov, who served as Azerbaijan’s foreign minister for 16 years, told a local media outlet that Azerbaijan’s ambassador to Armenia must definitely know the Armenian language.<\/p>\n
According to him, it is not necessary for the ambassador to be a career diplomat; an outsider could be appointed, as long as the person understands and is familiar with the characteristics of the Armenian people.<\/p>\n
When asked whether he himself would be ready to take the post of Azerbaijan’s ambassador to Armenia, Mammadyarov replied, “As deemed necessary.”<\/p>\n
