Famous Armenian composer Aram Khachaturian’s son Karen
\nKhachaturian turned to Nikol Pashinyan in support of Armen and Sergey Smbatyan.

He referred to the invaluable contribution that the
\nSmbatyans made to Armenian culture and to the promotion of Aram Khachaturian’s
\nlegacy. He also expressed hope that the current situation will be handled.<\/p>\n
“I am writing to you as I am sure that if my father,
\nAram Khachaturian were alive, he would definitely turn to you with regard to
\nthis important issue. Until the verdict is reached, Armen and Sergey Smbatyan
\nare held in custody. They are people whose contribution to Armenian culture is
\ninvaluable,” Karen Khachaturian wrote.<\/p>\n

He noted that although his dad was not born in Armenia, he
\ntook great pride in his Armenian origin and of the fact how he represented the
\nArmenian nation.<\/p>\n

“He was imbued with this sense of pride especially when
\nhe attended the performances of his own works abroad. In this regard, we can
\nclaim that in the past 15 years no musician has so brilliantly performed Aram
\nKhachaturian’s works on the most famous stages of the world as Sergey Smbatyan
\nhas done,” Aram Khachaturian’s son wrote.<\/p>\n
