French Prime Minister François Bayrou has left the Élysée Palace after submitting his resignation to President Emmanuel Macron, RIA Novosti<\/a> reports.<\/p>\n

Bayrou’s resignation comes after his government lost a confidence vote in the National Assembly, creating a new political crisis and placing the heavy responsibility of forming a new government on President Macron.<\/p>\n

In the vote held on Sept. 8, Bayrou’s government was defeated 364 to 194. The motion, initiated by opposition forces, accused the government of failing in economic policy and deepening the crisis over tax reforms.<\/p>\n

Following the vote, tensions ran high in the National Assembly, with opposition representatives emphasizing that public discontent could not be ignored.<\/p>\n
