Following Azerbaijan’s “restoration of state sovereignty” in 2023, efforts to normalize relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan have intensified, according to a statement by Azerbaijan’s Foreign Ministry marking State Sovereignty Day.<\/p>\n
“On Aug. 8, 2025, a historic meeting took place in Washington between the leaders of Azerbaijan, the United States, and Armenia.<\/p>\n
After the meeting, the leaders signed a joint declaration. Azerbaijan and Armenia pre-signed the text of a peace treaty.<\/p>\n
Additionally, at the request of both Azerbaijan and Armenia, the OSCE Minsk process and related bodies—legacies of the former conflict—were dissolved by a decision of the OSCE Ministerial Council on Sept. 1.<\/p>\n
The outcomes of the Washington meeting once again reaffirmed Azerbaijan’s proposed peace agenda.<\/p>\n
