Western countries exert pressure on Armenia, setting it
\nagainst the partnership with Russia. Director of the Fourth CIS
\nDepartment of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia Denis Gonchar said this
\nin his interview to TASS.

“As for some negative aspects that can be noticed in
\nthe relations between Russia and Armenia, their primary reason is the
\ndetermined attempts of western countries to spoil the partnership between us.
\nThey resort to any methods, including rather dirty ones, namely threat of
\nsanctions, unfair competition, vague promises, where, as the Armenian proverb
\nsays ‘There is more smoke than barbecue’ (Much ado about nothing),”
\nGonchar noted.

According to the Russian official, they have become witness
\nmany a time to how “western friendship” manifests itself in post-Soviet
\ncountries.<\/p>\n
“We place reliance on the wisdom of our Armenian partners.
\nWhen it comes to us, we are as always full of determination to settle all
\ndifficult issues as allies, i.e. through direct and sincere dialogue,” the
\ndiplomat said.<\/p>\n
