Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s microphone was cut off while he was delivering a speech on the Palestinian issue at the United Nations. Reports note that Erdogan was making strong remarks about Israel’s policies in the region when the incident occurred.<\/p>\n
The Turkish daily Sabah suggested that it may have been the result of a cyberattack.<\/p>\n
“During President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s historic speech, the microphone was turned off. There are assumptions that his speech was deliberately interrupted, or that a cyberattack took place,” the newspaper wrote.<\/p>\n
The microphone was indeed cut during the live broadcast of Erdogan’s address on state broadcaster TRT Haber and on Anadolu Agency’s social media pages.<\/p>\n
“We apologize, ladies and gentlemen. This is the translator speaking. I cannot hear the president,” was heard in English during the broadcast. “We are experiencing a technical issue.”<\/p>\n
Turkish authorities have not yet commented on the issue.<\/p>\n
