French President Emmanuel Macron announced<\/a> at the United Nations that France officially recognizes the independence of Palestine.<\/p>\n

“The time has come: In keeping with my country’s historical commitment to the Middle East, today I declare the recognition of the State of Palestine by France,” Macron said during his speech.<\/p>\n

He emphasized the importance of doing everything possible to “preserve the possibility of a two-state solution”, under which Israel and Palestine would live side by side in peace and security.<\/p>\n
