Lieutenant Colonel Ara Mkhitaryan passed away yesterday
\nevening. He was brutally beaten about four years ago. Being in a coma for four
\nyears, he never recovered from the injury. The injury resulted from a number of
\nblows to the head.<\/p>\n
On Sep. 18, 2019, Lieutenant Colonel Ara Mkhitaryan was
\nbrutally beaten outside an apartment building on Arsenyan Street in the town of
\nYeghegnadzor. Assistant to the Governor of the Vayots Dzor Province Harutyun
\nGrigoryan was among those who left the resident of the Shirak Province at
\ndeath’s door.

By court decision, he was sentenced to five years in prison
\non the charge of inflicting willful and severe damage to health. It is
\nimportant to mention that this Article provides for imprisonment for 5–10
\nyears. The court imposed the lightest penalty, in fact.
