According to Middle East Eye, Turkey is in talks with Qatar to purchase Tranche 3A Eurofighter Typhoon fighter jets, Ermenihaber<\/a> reports.<\/p>\n

Qatari sources say that Turkish Defense Minister Yaşar Güler and Air Force Commander Ziya Cemal Kadıoğlu have already discussed the potential deal in Doha.<\/p>\n

At the same time, it is noted that the purchase requires the approval of the United Kingdom, Germany, Italy, Spain, and France — all of which, according to the source, have a positive stance on the issue.<\/p>\n

In July, Turkey had signed a preliminary agreement with London to acquire 40 new fighter jets, but later Ankara deemed the deal too expensive. The sides are now in a new phase of discussions, trying to finalize the terms of a possible agreement.<\/p>\n
