Yesterday security forces stormed the Gyumri City Hall to detain Mayor Vardan Ghukasyan. The Anti-Corruption Committee announced that eight individuals had been arrested on charges of giving or receiving large-scale bribes involving a group of officials.<\/p>\n
Hours later, Ghukasyan himself left the City Hall building and approached the law enforcement vehicle. At that time, a scuffle broke out between police surrounding the City Hall and the mayor’s supporters, resulting in the detention of 23 people.<\/p>\n
Before being transferred to court, Ghukasyan was held at the Anti-Corruption Committee.
