The National Assembly of Armenia should study the
\nconsequences that may arise in case becomes a party to the Rome Statute.
\nThey should also assess the risks that this move can pose to the allied relations
\nwith Russia. Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council Yury Vorobyov made a
\nstatement on this.
<\/p><\/p>\n
<\/p>To remind, the Constitutional Court of Armenia, by its
\ndecision of March 24, 2023, held that the Rome Statute does not contravene the
\ncountry’s constitution.<\/p>\n
“This, we can infer that with this all the cases
\nconsidered in Armenia will come under the jurisdiction of the International
\nCourt of Justice. We think that this move of our Armenian partners should not
\nbe viewed within an anti-Russian context. However, in fact it greatly affects
\nRussian-Armenian relations. Russia, in this case, I am turning to the
\nparliamentarians,” Vorobyov said.<\/p>\n
<\/p><\/p>\n
<\/p>According to him, Russian and Armenian foreign ministries
\nare engaged in a dialogue on this.<\/p>\n
