Two thousand five hundred participants of the 6th
\nInternational Medical Congress of Armenia, along with its presidency and the
\nArmenian Medical International Committee, addressed a letter to World Health
\nOrganization Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus. They called on him to
\ntake immediate measures to tackle the humanitarian crisis caused by the illegal
\nblockade of Artsakh by Azerbaijan and to force Azerbaijan to lift the illegal
\nblockade by putting the levers of the organization into use. Similar letters on
\nbehalf of the Congress will be sent to the relevant U.N. agencies.

The letter addressed to the WHO reads:
<\/p><\/p>\n
“Our compatriots there struggle for daily bread and are
\ndenied access to basic health services. The Azerbaijani authorities continue to
\nignore the calls of the international community to lift the blockade and don’t
\nabide by the decision of the International Court of Justice.
<\/p><\/p>\n\n
As people who took the Hippocratic Oath, any situation,
\nwhere the fundamental human right to health is violated is unacceptable to us.
\nWith this letter, we want to ask you to do everything within your power and, by
\nputting the levers of the organization into use, to stop the inhuman blockade of
\nNagorno-Karabakh by Azerbaijan. We expect that practical and effective
\nmeasures, in accordance with WHO values, will be taken to alleviate the
\nsuffering of the people of Nagorno-Karabakh and to protect them from the
\ncontinuous aggression of repressive Azerbaijan.”
