Part of the medieval Torre dei Conti near the Colosseum collapsed Monday morning, RIA Novosti<\/a> reports.<\/p>\n

Police and firefighters have cordoned off the surrounding area, restricting pedestrian access.<\/p>\n

According to the Messaggero newspaper, four people were rescued from the debris. One of them was transported to the hospital in serious condition. All the injured were workers involved in the tower’s restoration.<\/p>\n
