President of the European Council Charles Michel made a
\nstatement after the tripartite meeting with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol
\nPashinyan and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.

<\/p>He stated that the Armenian and Azerbaijani leaders once
\nagain fully reconfirmed their respect for the other country’s territorial
\nintegrity and sovereignty. <\/p>\n
<\/p><\/p>\n
Both parties affirmed their commitment to the 1991 Almaty
\nDeclaration as a political framework for the delimitation.
<\/p><\/p>\n
Pashinyan and Aliyev agreed to intensify the work of the
\ncommissions for delimitation and demarcation issues.
<\/p><\/p>\n
They also addressed issues regarding the unblocking of
\ncommunication links.
<\/p><\/p>\n
“I emphasized the need to open the Lachin road. I also noted
\nAzerbaijan’s willingness to provide humanitarian supplies via Aghdam. I see
\nboth options as important to ensure the needs of the population are met,”
\nCharles Michel said.
<\/p><\/p>\n
The parties also referred to the issue of protecting the
\nrights and ensuring the security of the people of Artsakh.
<\/p><\/p>\n\n
Michel stated that the EU encourages direct dialogue between
\nBaku and the representatives of Armenians living in the former Nagorno-Karabakh
\nAutonomous Oblast.
