The French prosecutor’s office has proposed that Sarkozy — who was sentenced to five years in prison for illegally financing his election campaign — be released from prison and placed under judicial supervision, BFMTV<\/a> reports.<\/p>\n

According to the statement, prosecutors suggested freeing him on the condition that he be prohibited from contacting other individuals involved in the case.<\/p>\n

Sarkozy is attending the court hearing via video link. If the court decides to change his detention measure, he may be released immediately. The court’s decision is expected at 4:30 p.m. Yerevan time.<\/p>\n
