At today’s extraordinary session of the Masis municipal council, Norayr Hakobyan was unanimously elected mayor of the community. Hakobyan is a member of the David Hambardzumyan Alliance faction and had previously served as the first deputy mayor.<\/p>\n
The Civil Contract party did not nominate a candidate.<\/p>\n
Hakobyan served as Masis deputy mayor from December 2016 until resigning in 2021.<\/p>\n
“We will meet soon — with new programs and plans…,” he wrote at the time.<\/p>\n
Some time later, he again took up the position of deputy mayor of Masis.<\/p>\n
On Oct. 23, Masis mayor and prime ministerial candidate David Hambardzumyan was sentenced to 6 years and 3 months in prison and subsequently taken into custody.<\/p>\n
