Tehran has warned neighbors hosting U.S. troops that it would hit American bases if Washington strikes, a senior Iranian official told Reuters<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Some personnel have been advised to leave the U.S. military’s Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar — one of the main U.S. air bases in the region — by Wednesday evening, three diplomats told Reuters.<\/p>\n

The diplomats said, however, that there were still no signs of the large-scale troop withdrawal seen hours before the Iranian missile attack last year.<\/p>\n

As noted, an American human rights group reported that about 2,600 people were killed during anti-government protests in Iran. Reza Pahlavi, a descendant of the last Shah of Iran, reported that the death toll was more than 12,000.<\/p>\n

Reuters notes that the main U.S. bases in the Middle East are located in Bahrain, Qatar, Kuwait, the UAE, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Jordan and Turkey.<\/p>\n
