Parliament Speaker Alen Simonyan has thanked Turkey’s foreign minister and all regional partners who “support the calls of the majority of the Armenian public to pursue peace, engage in trade, and develop that trade within the framework of TRIPP.”<\/p>\n
According to Simonyan, Hakan Fidan’s statement was misinterpreted by some media outlets and did not imply a willingness to interfere in Armenia’s internal affairs.<\/p>\n
Fidan had said: “As you know, elections are expected in Armenia at the beginning of June; that is an important stage. However, we see that Prime Minister Pashinyan currently holds a leading position in public opinion polls. We truly support his constructive role in this process.
