France has voiced strong opposition to Iran’s plan to charge fees for ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz, calling the move illegal and unacceptable.<\/p>\n
“This is unacceptable, because freedom of navigation in international waters is a common heritage of humanity and must not be restricted by any limitations or transit fees. No one will accept this, as the decision is illegal,” French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot said.<\/p>\n
