It has been five days since the Lars checkpoint has been
\nclosed or has been allowing a rather slow passage of cargo. Since the majority
\nof goods are agricultural products, problems arise. Thus, businessmen have
\nstarted to incur losses. The authorities urge them not to politicize the issue
\nand to find new markets.

Experts claim the reason is solely political. Several
\nreasons for the closure of the checkpoint have been officially given. First,
\nweather conditions are rather unfavorable. Second, Rosselkhoznadzor has decided
\nthat the maximum residue limit is exceeded in Armenian products. Coincidence?
\nAnyway, every such closure of Lars is always preceded by an event that aggravates
\nrelations between Armenia and Russia. The latest such event was Armenia’s
\nabsence from the CSTO summit.
