World leaders from nearly 50 countries, including Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, are meeting in Yerevan, Armenia for the 8th European Political Community summit.<\/p>\n

At a time of profound geopolitical transformation, leaders from nearly 50 countries, including all 27 members of the European Union, will meet on Monday to discuss important politics face-to-face, including the US-Iran tensions, Euronews<\/a> writes.<\/p>\n

The summit will be co-chaired by European Council President António Costa and Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.<\/p>\n

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is expected to have sideline meeting with several countries.<\/p>\n

Canadian PM Mark Carney will also be joining as a guest – the first time a non-European country has participated in the meeting.<\/p>\n

“Europe and Canada are more than just like-minded partners — together we are building a global alliance to defend peace, shared prosperity and multilateralism,” Costa said.<\/p>\n

As noted, dozens of European leaders are also expected to attend the first-ever EU-Armenia summit, as the former Soviet nation hopes will bring it closer into the European fold as Yerevan seeks to gradually distance itself from Russia.<\/p>\n

As European leaders travel to Yerevan, promising civil missions and visa liberalization over the next two years, there is no timetable for EU membership, no security commitments, and no plan to replace Russian gas.<\/p>\n

Without such concrete commitments, Armenia’s “balancing act” between Russia and the West is still not complete.<\/p>\n<\/body><\/html>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
