Many believed for a long time that Armenia’s fate could only be secured under Russia’s patronage, French President Emmanuel Macron said at the “Yerevan Dialogue” conference.<\/p>\n
“The 2020 war, what you went through, the tragedy that befell many families, showed that this was not the kind of protection many had imagined. We saw that Russia abandoned Armenia,” Macron stated.<\/p>\n
He added that many had assumed the South Caucasus would always need to be protected by an external power.<\/p>\n
