The European Union believes that strengthening ties between the South Caucasus and Central Asia aligns with common strategic interests and is ready to discuss a more structured partnership with Azerbaijan, EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and European Commission Vice-President Kaja Kallas said.<\/p>\n
“Progress in the peace process between Azerbaijan and Armenia is a historic opportunity, and it is important to maintain this momentum. The EU has a range of tools to support this — from confidence-building measures to demining activities, and we are already the largest donor in these areas,” Kallas stated during her visit to Azerbaijan.<\/p>\n
She also met with Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov. The sides discussed regional and international security issues, as well as post-conflict recovery and reconstruction, humanitarian demining efforts, and the settlement process in the South Caucasus.
