The bureaucratic preparatory work for the launch of direct trade between Armenia and Turkey was completed on May 11, 2026, as part of confidence-building measures undertaken within the process of relations normalization that started in 2022, Turkey’s foreign ministry said in a statement.<\/p>\n
The statement noted that the necessary technical and bureaucratic work related to the opening of the shared border between the two countries is still ongoing.<\/p>\n
“Thanks to the newly introduced regulations, it has become possible for goods arriving from Turkey to Armenia through a third country or along the same route to designate ‘Armenia or Turkey’ as the final destination or country of origin,” the statement said.<\/p>\n
“In light of the historic opportunity to strengthen lasting peace and prosperity in the South Caucasus, Turkey will continue to contribute to the development of economic relations and the further advancement of cooperation in the region for the benefit of all countries and peoples of the region,” the ministry added.<\/p>\n<\/body><\/html>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
